Public Input on Westwood Golf and Tennis Center Redesign

The master plan for a revitalized and reimagined Westwood Golf and Tennis Center in Norman is now available for community review and comments, according to the below schedule:

  • Available through 5 PM April 4 at the Norman Development Center (lobby area), 225 N. Webster Ave
  • Available from 8 AM April 7 through 5 PM April 13 at Westwood Golf and Tennis Center, 2400 Westport Dr

“We’re excited to get this master plan across the finish line and have a clear plan and strategy for the future of Golf and Tennis at Westwood Park,” said Parks & Recreation Director Jason Olsen.

The Parks & Recreation staff, Westwood Steering Committee, and consultants have identified and incorporated the City’s needs into redesigning the facility.

“The golf clubhouse is nearing the end of its functional life, and it needs revision,” said James Briggs, Park Development Manager. “We know there’s a desire for this type of project based on surveys of users of the facility and staff.” The tennis courts and pro shop will also be completely redesigned as part of the plan.

Based on the needs of the community and after touring similar facilities in surrounding municipalities, the Westwood Steering Committee and Parks & Recreation staff worked with outside consultants to develop the plan, which would include a new golf clubhouse, new tennis pro shop and outdoor courts, a new drive entry off Robinson Street, an additional indoor tennis court, an indoor pickleball facility, new and expanded parking and landscaping.

“We really want the public to be interested and involved in this project,” Briggs said. “We want them to come by and take a look and leave comments. This is their facility.”

Following the public input period, City Staff and the design team will review comments received and develop a public presentation to be delivered on April 17 at the golf clubhouse. Following the presentation, the plan is expected to go before the Board of Parks Commissioners and then the Norman City Council with a projected timeline to potentially be adopted by July 2025.
